Chestnuts

Chestnuts are great for all occasions, particularly on cold nights with warm fires and family gatherings.  Think of the tradition of hot roasted chestnuts, wholesome chestnut soups, delectable chestnut deserts.

Apart from the Pick-Your-Own Berries & Cherries operation the property is the 2nd largest Chestnut producer in the region with nuts being sold through Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane Markets, and also from the farm gate. With 1,200 new trees planted in 2007 and 1,000 more to be planted in 2008, the Iaria family will have 9,000 Chestnut trees between their Stanley and Mount Beauty properties.  As market leaders in the industry, their focus is on producing the best varieties available for ‘eezi’ peeling, long keeping and of course good tasting chestnuts.  Harvest season is March to May with the trees in flower in December.

We are open by appointment in March and April during the chestnut season.
